Why couples sign postnups

It’s not too late to plan

A postnuptial agreement is signed after the wedding. It can address many of the same issues as a prenuptial agreement — and it’s often prompted by a change in the marriage.

Enforceability in Florida

Florida courts generally enforce postnuptial agreements that are in writing, signed voluntarily, and based on fair and reasonable disclosure of each spouse’s finances. Like a prenup, a postnup cannot limit a child’s right to support. Careful drafting and complete disclosure are what make the agreement hold up.
