What families need
Protect your children and each other
For parents, estate planning is less about property and more about people. The right plan names who would care for your children, how their inheritance would be managed, and who can make decisions if you’re unable to.
- Name a guardian for minor children
- Leave assets in trust instead of to minors outright
- Choose who manages money for your children, and until what age
- Name agents for finances and health care
- Coordinate life insurance and retirement beneficiaries
Why children shouldn’t inherit outright
Minors can’t legally manage an inheritance. Without a trust, a court may have to appoint and supervise a guardian of the property — and the child typically receives everything at 18. A trust lets you decide who manages the money and when your children receive it.
